The number one question I am asked about custom - especially bridal- jewelry, is when you should start the process. My mantra has always been, the earlier the better.
Time is precious
Good things take time. Handmade jewelry is no exception. At LMJ we pride ourselves on creating unique, easy to wear pieces that last a lifetime. To make sure it’s designed well, and built even better, most custom work takes approximately two months. This ensures we land on the best design together, and we have time to make it perfect for you. Sometimes things move quicker, sometimes…not. It depends on whether we are searching for the perfect stone, figuring out a ring size, or waiting on heirloom materials to come in.
Engagement Rings
Let’s talk specifics. For custom engagement rings the timeline really uses that full 8-12 weeks. It takes time to land on the best design, taking into consideration your partner’s lifestyle and personal style. Sometimes we have to wait for the perfect stone to be stocked at our vendor, which also eats up some of that timeline. We have an ever rotating selection of one of a kind ready to ship options, or opt for a designed to order piece that gives you control over the final look without the long lead times!
Wedding Bands
Woohoo!! The wedding date is set (or the elopement….) and you are ready to figure out wedding bands. My best practices recommendation for the least amount of added stress is to start the custom wedding band process three months out from your wedding date. Too late? Thats okay!! We have a ton of amazing designed to order options in our VOW collection that have a quicker turnaround time.
General Custom
Everything else custom-wise depends on your timeline, but generally it’s safe to expect our custom lead time to be in the 6-10 week range for non-bridal pieces.
