Liza Michelle Jewelry is a bespoke fine jewelry studio in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, founded in 2013 by metalsmith Liza Rifkin after she turned a lifelong calling into a career. Bit by “the bug” early in a high school jewelry class, she discovered working with a torch and solder let her connect a love of tools and making with the desire to create something beautiful and deeply functional.
Today, her studio specializes in custom consultation and one-of-a-kind pieces, alongside designed-to-order and ready-to-ship collections built from recycled metals and character-rich stones, working with Misfit Diamonds to source salt-and-pepper, antique and unusual diamonds, Montana sapphires, and lab-grown options vetted for their sourcing.
Liza’s design ethos centers on “delicate heft”: jewelry that feels light and effortless on the body while remaining genuinely durable over decades of daily wear. Every piece is made to move through the world with its wearer, not against them, and to serve as a small, sculptural object that can carry story, legacy, and big life moments for generations.
Designer Bio
Liza Rifkin is a studio jeweler with over a decade of experience at the bench, building a career that beganwith 40–45 craft shows a year across multiple Midwestern and Eastern states and evolved into thecustom-led bespoke studio she now runs in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. Those early years on the road gave her a crash course in talking about her work, understanding what people reached for, and learning where fine jewelry did and didn’t belong.
These lessons pushed her toward a practice rooted in acknowledging the deeper relationships we hold with jewelry and focusing on creating pieces for the long-term. Her relationship to materials is both technical and emotional: recycled gold as an endlessly reusable medium for heirlooms, character- forward stones like Misfit Diamonds, salt-and-pepper diamonds, and Montana sapphires, and settings engineered for what she calls “delicate heft.”
For Liza, bespoke jewelry means making small, sculptural objects that are truly for the wearer — comfortable, durable, and able to move through daily life without working against the body. Comfort and wearability aren’t marketing language in her studio; they are working principles developed by making jewelry, wearing it hard herself, and refusing to send a piece out into the world if it doesn’t feel right on her own hand.
